TAMIU Theater Troupe Presents…….
Student run, TAMIU Theater Troupe will be hosting auditions for their upcoming Spring production of Jewtopia, written by Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson, directed by troupe member, Brittany Best.
This off-Broadway comedy tells the story of two single men, Chris O’Connell and Adam Lipschitz. Chris, a gentile, wants to marry a Jewish girl for more than one shallow reason. Meanwhile, Adam Lipschitz, already a Jew, wants to marry a Jewish girl to please his family, but can’t get a date to save his life.
Cue hilarious stereotypes, clashing cultures, horrible dates with Fran Drescher-esque women, overbearing family members and laughter from beginning to end, Jewtopia plays out as a comedic chicken soup, good for the soul, whatever your age or religion.
Open auditions for Jewtopia will be held Feb. 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. in TAMIU’s Student Center, room 120. Students from neighboring high schools and Laredo Community College are welcome to audition.
There are six female and six male roles, with ages varying. No previous experience is required. It will be a cold read.
